Facility Rentals & Independent Contractors

Bringing More Fitness Opportunities to Our Community

At Bancroft Fitness, we believe that offering a variety of fitness programs, classes, and services is an important part of supporting a healthy and active community.

As a not-for-profit fitness facility, we are committed to providing affordable memberships, quality equipment, and opportunities for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to stay active.

We also recognize the important role that independent fitness instructors, personal trainers, and wellness professionals play in helping people achieve their health and fitness goals.

To support these opportunities, Bancroft Fitness offers approved independent contractors the ability to rent our Group Fitness Room to deliver their own specialized classes, programs, workshops, and fitness services.

A New Approach to Group Fitness

Effective January 2027, Bancroft Fitness is introducing an updated structure for independent instructors and Group Fitness Room rentals.

Historically, group fitness classes have been included with a Bancroft Fitness membership. While select classes will continue to be offered as part of our regular membership, specialized programs operated by independent contractors may now be offered separately.

This approach allows independent instructors to develop and manage their own programs while giving participants access to a wider variety of fitness opportunities.

It also helps Bancroft Fitness manage operating costs, maintain affordable membership rates, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our facility.

Our goal is not to reduce fitness opportunities, but to create a structure that supports continued growth, program variety, and accessibility for our community.

Group Fitness Room Rentals

Our Group Fitness Room provides a dedicated space for qualified fitness professionals interested in offering their own classes or programs.

We welcome proposals for a variety of fitness and wellness activities, including:

  • Yoga, Pilates, and stretching classes

  • Low-impact fitness and active aging programs

  • Strength, conditioning, and functional fitness classes

  • Dance fitness and group exercise

  • Mobility, balance, and flexibility programs

  • Fitness education and instructional workshops

  • Other approved health, wellness, and fitness-related programs

Whether you are an established instructor looking for a consistent location or a qualified fitness professional interested in introducing a new program, we welcome the opportunity to discuss your ideas.

All proposed activities are subject to management approval and must be appropriate for the available space and equipment.

How Independent Contractor Rentals Work

Independent contractors operate their programs separately from Bancroft Fitness and are responsible for managing the delivery of their classes and services.

This includes:

  • Program Development: Planning and organizing their own classes, workshops, or fitness programs.

  • Scheduling: Coordinating class dates and times with Bancroft Fitness management based on room availability.

  • Pricing: Establishing their own participant fees.

  • Registration: Managing participant registration, payments, and communication.

  • Qualifications: Maintaining appropriate professional certifications, training, and liability insurance.

  • Safety: Ensuring classes are delivered safely and participants follow all Bancroft Fitness policies.

  • Facility Care: Leaving the Group Fitness Room clean, organized, and ready for the next user.

Independent contractors are required to complete a rental agreement and receive management approval before offering programs at Bancroft Fitness.

Rental fees and applicable requirements will be outlined as part of the agreement.

Do Participants Need a Bancroft Fitness Membership?

Not necessarily!

One of the benefits of our independent contractor structure is that specialized classes may be available to individuals who do not hold a regular Bancroft Fitness membership.

Membership requirements, registration, and class fees will be determined by the individual instructor in accordance with their rental agreement.

Please note that paying to attend an independently operated class does not provide access to the general gym, fitness equipment, or other membership amenities.

Individuals wishing to use the gym outside their scheduled class must have a valid Bancroft Fitness membership.

Supporting Affordable Fitness

As a not-for-profit organization, Bancroft Fitness is committed to making responsible financial decisions that support the long-term operation of our facility.

The costs associated with operating and maintaining a fitness facility continue to grow. By introducing a rental structure for independently operated programs, we can provide opportunities for additional fitness services without placing the full financial responsibility on our general membership.

Revenue generated through facility rentals is reinvested into Bancroft Fitness to support equipment, maintenance, facility improvements, and ongoing operations.

Our priority remains the same: providing quality fitness opportunities at an affordable price while supporting the health and wellness of our community.
